It has been a month now, and it remains a mystery.
Last month 2 men traveling on Japanese Passports were stopped while crossing the Italian border into Switzerland. In their possession was 134 Billion Dollars worth of US Kennedy Treasury Notes. That is a lot of money! A treasury note is treated like cash. You could deposit them into your Swiss bank account, then pull real money out.
And the whole story just gets kookier.
One month later, and no one still knows if they are real, or really great forgeries. The 2 men were released shortly after their arrest.
Now it seems they had recent bank records to go along with the Notes, that would make them probably real.
The US Treasury says they are forgeries. However still to this date, as far as anyone knows, they haven't actually looked at them. They have reviewed Internet photo's of them only, which also sounds dubious.
There might be one of several possibilities:
They are real, and a government like say, China, was going to dump them off the record for cash.
The are forgeries, and only a government would have the ability to create them, say North Korea with the help of China.
Or, the most disturbing possibility, the US Treasury / Federal Reserve is running a back door account, selling these off the books.
134 Billion is more than any country with the exception of China would have on hand. If they were trying to dump them off the record, that would mean they are expecting the dollar to collapse, and want to exchange them quietly without causing the dollar to slide, as it would on the open market.
If they are forgeries, flooding the global market will devalue the dollar even more than it already is. This is not a good thing either.
If it is our government, then something really wrong is going on. And we seriously need to look at every one's books. The deficit might well be Trillions higher than we know. And it is bad enough as it is.
No matter which scenario, all governments have kept a tight lid on it. Outside of the original report, nothing really has been released to the media. No real explanations have been given. Which makes it even more curious. If it is indeed forgeries, this is on a scale never seen before in the history of the world. You would think some folks would be asking questions.
Oh yeah, Michael Jackson died. Nothing else matters.
