CA - WHAT BUDGET CRISES?

California is 24 Billion over budget. Having a fire sale, everything must go! Let the felons out, get rid of the police and firefighters, cut them teachers and state workers. This is a crises!

Well, that is what the Governor and the news say. Lets take a look at the numbers here, just for some fun.

The way it seems to break down, projected tax revenue was 8 Billion dollars short. OK, so where the the other 16 Billion come from? Easy, that is how much money the State legislator had approved to spend over last years budget. A mere 16 Billion increase in spending year over year. Must be nice.

So if you ignore the spending increase, or wish list I guess, you are back to an 8 Billion dollar deficit, from over revenue projections, and a decline in revenue collection. Either way you look at it, it comes from the Exodus of business leaving CA for friendlier tax states, and the double digit unemployment.

Now here is a crazy thought. It is estimated that CA spends 10 Billion a year on services and education for the Illegal Alien population. I would think that if you were to solve the illegal Alien problem, the state would have a 2 billion dollar revenue excess, that is, if you ignore the wish list of new spending.

Look, I just solved the budget problem!

Oh, I know what you're going to say. You were about to tell me how the Illegal Aliens paid 1.5 Billion in taxes into the system. I would say you were right. But I would be quick to point out that American Born citizens, now collecting unemployment, would be more than happy to do those jobs, and would still pay in 1.5 Billion in taxes.

Hey, if that was the case, we would now have a 3.5 Billion dollar surplus. Am I good at this budget stuff or what?

I know, the Governator said in an interview that he is glad the Illegals get all those benefits, and without them, the would be no construction happening in CA.

HELLO, the American construction worker was one of the first industries to get destroyed by the influx of Illegal Aliens. If we were to put them back to work, I bet we might lower the unemployment in the sate as well. That would save even more money. Where is my calculator. I bet I just brought the state to a 4 Billion in surplus, with a failing economy.

You know why this won't work? Because I am not in the government, and the government does not think like we the people do. If they did, I don't think we would be in this mess.

And the state legislator has been busy passing more silly spending programs in the middle of the state budget crises. I guess they figure the Federal Government will come and bail them out, so there is no need to act responsibly.

I hope they don't get bailed out, and get a dose of fiscal reality. My guess, in our new Socialist Country, the bail out check is already in the mail.
