Economist Milton Friedman was testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee in favor of a national constitutional amendment for a balanced budget. Kennedy argued that a requirement for a balanced budget would restrict the federal government’s power and its ability to spend – thus, he said, Washington’s role in more fairly and equitably distributing wealth, goods and services.
“Senator, socialism hasn’t worked in 6,000 years of recorded history,” explained Friedman. “Why won’t you give up on it?”
Kennedy rose to his feet, according to Nuttle, who attended the hearing, and replied: “It hasn’t worked in 6,000 years of recorded history because it didn’t have me to run it.”
What, you never heard about that statement? I see no reason to make up stuff about folks, as their own words are usually damning enough. And there you go, socialism has aways failed, because Ted Kennedy wasn't running it. Go back to the beginning of my articles and read the communist agenda again. I'll wait.
And here we are now, awaiting Mr Kennedy's monstrous National Health Care Plan. They have been keeping a tight lid on it, because they realized last time around, when Hillery Clinton was pushing it, the details getting released were it's downfall. And it all sort of blew up on them. But a government idea never goes away, it just gets repackaged and waits for the most opportune political climate to show its head again.
Things have changed since then, as our government is now a Marxist entity. Mr Kennedy has somehow outlived all his various scandals, and is now a National Hero for the little man. Not sure how that happened, but here we are. And as luck would have it, National Health Care is back in the spotlight, a few details of the draft have slipped out.
Before I get to that, I want to point out how the government works it's magic. All through the Presidential campaign. The Democrats made Health Care reform their main point of attack..If you were to believe everything they said, we have the worst system in the world and without them fixing it, we will all die. Doesn't matter if it is true or not, say it enough folks start to believe you.
Our Dear Leader has made it one of his pet projects. In fact just last week, he gave an interview where he actually admitted the United States government is out of money. I almost fell over in shock, he does know what they are doing is disastrous. Well, not quite, he blamed the entire bankruptcy of the country on our failed Health Care system. Had absolutely noting to do with the bailouts, the Stimulus Bill, the humongous budget, nope, it's all because we have a failed Health Care system.
Well, if ours is so messed up, it must really suck in Canada and England, because them folks come here to receive the care they can't get under their National Health Care System. Oh wait, their system is the model for our new system. The Democrats were right, we are all going to die.
In our new plan, Employers would be required to offer health care to employees or pay a penalty - and all Americans would be guaranteed health insurance .
There goes all those little businessmen who have managed to hang on through the economic meltdown. This and the Cap and Trade tax will be the death of every little operation around.
The bill would provide subsidies to help poor people pay for care, guarantee patients the right to select any doctor they want and require everyone to purchase insurance, with exceptions for those who can't afford to.
Subsidies, that means government money, that means higher taxes on everything to pay for it. It is a good thing they have exceptions for those who can't afford this new plan, since we will all most likely be unemployed after it goes into effect.
Insurers would be supposed to offer a basic level of care and would be required to cover all comers, without turning people away because of pre-existing conditions or other reasons. Insurance companies' profits would be limited, and private companies would have to compete with a new public "affordable access" plan that would for the first time offer government-sponsored health care to Americans not eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or other programs
Here is the important section. profits would be limited, and private companies would have to compete with a new public "affordable access" plan that would for the first time offer government-sponsored health care. The government is out to limit the profits of everyone, all part of the new share the wealth mentality. Private companies will also be competing with a new government insurance company. Well that sounds fair, doesn't it.
The government can set any price it wants, since it has apparently unlimited amounts of printable money to offset their losses. I don't know how many folks work in the Health Insurance Industry, but you might want to get your resumes updated. I think the government is getting ready to take over your industry as well.
I wonder how many millions of folks that will put on the unemployment roaster? No matter. There will be plenty of new jobs in the new bureaucracy I am sure. Since under this plan, the government will decide if you need any care at all, and if so what kind you get. You may still get to see your family doctor, but he will have to call the government oversight board to see if he can help you.
I picture hospitals looking a lot like the Motor Vehicle department. Just instead of getting angry at spending endless hours in line, only to find they gave you the wrong forms, you will simply die of old age in the waiting room.
I wonder what we can socialize next? I am thinking the oil companies and then Unionize Walmart. That way we will have to buy the little Pelosimobiles GM is going to push out, and the prices at Walmart will skyrocket, forcing us to spend our unemployment checks at the new subsidized Govmart. Where the line are long and the shelves are bare.
